UPCOMING CHILDREN'S CHOIR FESTIVAL:
Saturday, April 25th, 2009 in Claremont, California - from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Celebrating Children's Voices - 2nd Children's Community Chorus Festival in Claremont, CA. Generally intended for treble choir members aged 8-17 years old (or 1st-12th grade equivalent). Mixed-voice choir involvement is possible.
A wonderful children's chorus festival experience for your choir in the beautiful and safe city of Claremont. Located in Los Angeles County, Southern California. Your children will work with a stellar clinician and a fabulous accompanist. Your directors will meet new directors, make connections, get ideas and leave feeling accomplished and inspired!
The children will work on three mass pieces (To Music, by Betty Bertaux, Laudamus te, from Vivaldi's Gloria, Jordan's Angels, by Rollo Dilworth) to be performed in an evening concert, which is FREE this time around. Groups will be given time to work on their own two solo selections for the concert, and the directors will have time to speak with each other and experience an Orff workshop. Lunch, snacks, t-shirts and the festival certificates are included with registration. CD's and Photo purchases will also be available. To Music and Jordan's Angles can be ordered at a 20% discount through Emerson Music. Just mention you're a participant of the festival.
We have the pleasure to announce our Festival Clinician, Dr. Andrew Crane - Professor of Music, Cal. State San Bernardino and director of the Mountainside Master Chorale! Dr. Crane received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University, where he studied under David Rayl, Jonathan Reed, and Sandra Snow. Dr. Crane earned undergraduate and master's degrees from Brigham Young University, under the tutelage of Ronald Staheli and Mack Wilberg.
A lyric tenor, he has had much experience in performing a variety of styles on the concert stage. In California, he has appeared as a soloist with the Loma Linda Symphony, Pomona College Orchestra, Riverside Master Chorale, Redlands Chamber Music Society, and other groups. Crane was a recent winner of the Redlands Bowl Young Artists Competition.
